So here's what I've managed to work on in my limited amount of art time lately. XD; I.... really went farther with this than I planned. But that's what happens when you're having fun and start experimenting new techniques all of a sudden, hehe.
Anyway, this is a collaboration with Anjie
, who drew the original sketch of this picture, seen here: >>>img.photobucket.com/albums/v14… Which I adjusted slightly and colored.
The two characters in the picture are the humanized, teenage version of my OC, Yang: fav.me/d2x7qti and the teenage version of Anjie's OC, Tine: fav.me/d5aftd4. Somewhere along the line, these two somehow became a very cute pairing, as you can see by some of Anjie's wonderful fanart: fav.me/d55qo14

this is nice, real cute.
the general feel of this one is a bit softer than your usual work which is an interesting deviation that worked out quite well here, especially in contrast to the sunset in the background. as if one is squinting a bit with the sun in their eyes, kind of...if that makes sense...and I mean that in a good way. the lens flare is a very nice touch, too, just another one of those details I swear you're brilliant with, I never would have remembered it.

as for the pose itself, anjie did quite a nice job as well. you can get a good feel of the general emotion going between them as well. kind of an innocent curiosity about not just what's going on around them, but between them themselves.
looking at the descriotion and some of your comments, it seems I may be close to the mark. if this picture - and their friendship - is indeed the theme for the story, then it could be quite interesting. I'll definitely be looking forward to it, if you two decide to share it.
